As a recent college graduate Jessica has already caught the travel bug visiting Asia & Africa. Her travels inspired her to earn a double major in Japanese and International business at North Central College and also to dedicate her time to the Japan club during school. Don’t let her young age fool you though. Jessica has been with Safariline since her early high school years and works hard behind the scenes. Over the years her duties have ranged from client services, to trade show sales to content writing, but her current duty is keeping the Safariline website up to date co-ordinating with vendors and suppliers. When reminiscing on her African travels Jessica explains what sets Africa apart from the rest of the world: “It’s untouched. There are so many places that are pure wilderness. It’s extremely unique. You can’t find what you find there in Europe or in Asia or even South America, it’s completely different. Their culture and the vastness of everything there is on a whole new level.”
Michael has traveled 70 countries across the globe, 10 within the continent of Africa, and has even journeyed across the state of Iowa for its annual Ragbrai bike ride event. When Michael is back home in Illinois he enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening and occasionally relaxing in his hammock. Now that he has “retired” from his pastime coaching softball and running softball leagues he tries to find more time for his photography. Michael’s Africa credentials include serving on the APTA National Board and as APTA Midwest Chapter President – Association for the Promotion of Tourism to Africa. Michael will attend to your needs with a smile and the insights of a seasoned travel veteran. Throughout his trips to Africa and planning safaris for many others, he has gained a great passion for this unparalleled continent and its wildlife. When comparing Africa to any other destination he explains that nothing else compares because your experiences in Africa will be unique to you and unlike anyone else's. His favorite quote reads: “If you can only visit two continents, visit Africa twice.”
Growing up with owner, Sherrie Wenzel as his mother it’s no surprise Valdemar has traveled throughout the African continent, along with trips to Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and spent two months living in Japan during college days. Valdemar attended the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg, IL receiving a Bachelor's in Game Art & Design with a strong background in Graphic Design which is put to good use with his position at Safariline. As Web Media and Graphic Designer, Valdemar spends time both in and out of the office managing Safariline’s social media and designing graphics in all media, including the website, various brochures, postcards and more as “an artist of many trades”. In his free-time, Val/Em especially enjoys playing fantasy based RPG video games and being “an anime nerd.” Alongside his partner Valdemar designs and dresses up in his own costumes/armour for cos-play events.
Before joining Safariline in 2000, Pat began her safari career in 1987 truly falling in love with the African Continent after her first visit. Selling and escorting tours for groups and zoological societies to East Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands, her main area of expertise is Kenya & Tanzania. A founding member of the Midwest Chapter of APTA (Association for the Promotion of Tourism to Africa), she held offices for ten years. Lucky to spend the winters in the warmth of Florida she enjoys the sunshine, fishing boating, gardening, photography and cooking with her family. Although Pat has recently “retired’, we consistently tap her vast knowledge of East Africa.
